Clare Bellis is a senior lecturer in actuarial studies at Macquarie University, Sydney. She worked in life insurance, investments, and pension consulting in England and Australia for ten years before joining the actuarial department at Macquarie University in 1989. As well as her actuarial qualifications she has a degree in history from Cambridge University, and is the author of a book on the history of the Australian actuarial profession, "The Future-Managers: Actuaries in Australia 1853-1997". She has served on the Council and many committees of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia, and as the Editor of the Australian Actuarial Journal.
Clare is a member of the education committee of the International Actuarial Association, and has also served as the Australian liaison representative on the education task forces of the Society of Actuaries and Institute/Faculty of Actuaries. She teaches the Actuarial Control Cycle subject, part of the FIAA qualification, to students both in Sydney and, via the internet, around the world.
