Summary Extensive discussion is now underway in the development of international accounting standards for insurance contracts through the International Accounting Standards Board. This session will explore these developments from the perspecitive of a life insurer. In addition, current efforts in the IAA's development of actuarial standards with respect to accounting for insurers will be covered. |

|
Nigel is the Chairman of the Insurance Regulations Committee of the International Actuarial Association, as well as being Chairman of Accounting Issues Committee of Life Board of the Institute of Actuaries and Representative of the Groupe Consultatif on the Insurance Sub-committee of the Technical Committee of EFRAG. In addition, he has authored or co-authored several papers related to insurance accounting, including one to the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries on Fair Value Accounting and on Life Assurance in a Fair Value World for the Cancun ICA. In addition, he most recently authored the Baird Report on the regulator's role in the Equitable. |
