Biographical Sketch: Ralph Blanchard is a Fellow and Past President of the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS), as well as a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (Academy). He has served on numerous committees of these two actuarial associations and the IAA, including Board and committee chair positions for the CAS and Academy. This includes chairing in the past the Academy’s Property/Casualty Risk Based Capital Committee and Financial Reporting Committee.
Ralph is employed by The Travelers Companies, Inc., as VP & Actuary in their Accounting Policy department within Corporate Finance. His current work responsibilities include U.S. Statutory and GAAP accounting issues with actuarial connections, fair value and international accounting issues, asbestos reserve reviews, Risk Based Capital (RBC) modeling, and capital management issues. In his spare time Ralph likes to run marathons and recently completed his goal of running a marathon in all 50 states.
