Biographical Sketch:
Curtis Gary Dean is the Lincoln Financial Distinguished Professor of Actuarial Science at Ball State University. He is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He worked for many years as a property and casualty actuary at American States Insurance and later at SAFECO. He also managed the creation of the Commercial Lines predictive modeling unit at Travelers Insurance in Hartford, CT.

Gary has been an active contributor to the professional actuarial community through the Casualty Actuarial Society.  His noteworthy contributions include Chair of the Examination Committee, first Editor-in-Chief for Variance: Advancing the Science of Risk, membership on the Board of Directors, and member of the Executive Council.
