Biographical Sketch: Nardeep Sangha is a Managing Director and Global Head of the Life & Health Risk Transformation team for Swiss Re, based in London. The team is responsible for inwards structured Life & Health business and also includes the Global Longevity Pricing and Solutions teams.
Nardeep joined Swiss Re in November 2011 from Deutsche Bank where he was a Managing Director in Global Rates and the CEO / CIO of Abbey Life. His professional qualifications include: Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and Associate Member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers.
Upon graduating from Nottingham University with a BSC(Hons) in Mathematics with statistics, Nardeep joined the insurance consulting division of Watsons. In 1993 he moved to Midland Personal Financial Services where he qualified as an Actuary before beginning his capital markets career at Sumitomo Bank prior to joining Deutsche Bank in 2000.
At Deutsche Bank he initially sat within the Debt Capital Markets team marketing derivatives, before moving into the pensions and insurance coverage team where he covered pension funds. He was appointed onto the board of Paternoster, a newly formed insurance company targeting pension funds, as the Deutsche Bank representative, a role he retained until the business was sold early in 2011. In 2007, Deutsche Bank acquired Abbey Life and Nardeep became the CEO and CIO which involved investments, marketing and hedging as well as general management. He led the BMW pension fund longevity transaction in 2010; the largest of its kind in the UK.
