Biographical Sketch:
Brnic Van Wyk is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia, the Actuarial Society of South Africa and the Institute of Actuaries in the UK. He has extensive experience as a Pension and Employee Benefits Consultant in his native South Africa, where he worked for Alexander Forbes Financial Services for 13 years. Alexander Forbes is South Africa’s largest private pension fund administrator, multi-manager and actuarial advisory firm. During his tenure he was principal advisor to some of the country’s largest public and private corporations on the management of DB and DC pension funds.

Brnic is currently employed by QSuper Limited as a senior manager in their Investments Division. QSuper is one of Australia’s largest superannuation funds with more than 540,000 members and over $40 billion in funds under management. At QSuper Brnic plays a leading role in developing the fund’s Asset/Liability framework, process and governance structures for default defined contribution investment objectives and strategies. This includes the analysis of member data as it pertains to understanding the investment liabilities of default DC members and creating different cohorts of these members. His responsibilities also include monitoring relevant Australian and international research and contributing to the fund’s strategy and product development.
