Biographical Sketch: Jochen Wieland is PhD student at Ulm University. His main research topic is the actuarial analysis of participating life insurance products with different types of guarantees, particularly in the context of difficult financial markets and under risk based solvency frameworks such as Solvency II. He also works as a consultant for the Institut für Finanz- und Aktuarwissenschaften. Jochen graduated from San Diego State University (MSc. - Applied Mathematics) in 2010, and from Ulm University (diploma in Mathematics and Economics) in 2011. He is also an associated member of the German Research Foundation (DFG) Research Training Group 1100 and junior member of the German Association of Insurance and Financial Mathematics (DGVFM).
