Biographical Sketch: Mary Hardy is a professor of actuarial science at the University of Waterloo. She is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, and a Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst. She has a PhD in Actuarial Mathematics from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, and a BSc in Pure Mathematics from the University of London.
Dr Hardy has co-authored around 40 papers and two books on topics in actuarial risk management with applications in insurance and pensions. She is the Editor of the North American Actuarial Journal, and is a past editor of the Annals of Actuarial Science. In October 2012, Dr Hardy was awarded the Finlaison Prize by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, in recognition of her services to actuarial research, and to the application of research to actuarial practice.
