Current responsibility
Andrew is a principal and actuary with the Philadelphia office of Milliman. He joined the firm in 2007.
Experience
Andrew consults primarily to life and health insurance companies. His professional experience includes work on actuarial appraisals for mergers and acquisitions, asset and liability analysis, cash flow testing, statutory and tax reserve reviews, hedging for variable annuities, and economic capital for life and health companies.
Andrew is a user of MG-ALFA® (Milliman’s asset and liability system), as well as various other actuarial software packages. His use of the software includes stochastic modeling of both capital market and insurance risks in an enterprise risk management/economic capital setting.
Andrew also has experience in defined benefit pension consulting. In particular, he focused on asset liability management (ALM) for pension plans, including stochastic forecasting of pension plan assets and liabilities.
Andrew is a primary author of the IAA text book on Stochastic Modeling and the IAA educational monogaph on the topic of discount rates in financial reporting.
Andrew is a past Chair of the SOA Investment Section and is a frequent speaker at Society of Actuaries’ meetings.
