Climate and Extreme Weather

Wednesday, April 2, 2014: 9:30 a.m.
Washington Room 1 (Washington Marriott Wardman Park)
There is a large difference between the general public's knowledge of Climate Change, and the evidence.  The Actuaries Climate Index is being developed to educate the public about Climate Change, and to enhance our profession.  The Actuaries Climate Risk Index will also include exposures as a measure of Climate Change Risk.  In this session, people will learn how the Indices are being developed, and what characteristics we want the Indices to have.  In this interactive session, participants  will see some of the indices in the development stage, and will be able to provide feedback on whether the indices communicate the right information in the right way.
