Committees

IAA committees are established by the Executive Committee to support the organization's work in alignment with the Strategic Plan. The Executive Committee establishes their terms of reference (subject to Council ratification), and oversees their operations. All committees report directly to the Executive Committee and adhere to established criteria in their functioning.

The Actuarial Standards Committee develops and maintains all International Standards of Actuarial Practice (ISAPs) which are model standards of actuarial practice.

The Advance Committee encourage sand promotes the development of actuarial knowledge and expertise aligning with IAA strategic goals.

Forums are entities that report into the Advance Committee.

The Climate & Sustainability Committee promotes the role of the actuary, raises its image and profile in the area of managing climate and sustainability risks. It also supports the relevant Supranational relationship team(s) in their engagement initiatives on topics relating to climate and sustainability. It proactively prepares the profession to the challenges related to climate and sustainability and advances the competency of the profession by creating awareness, facilitating knowledge sharing and educating actuaries.

The Education Committee encourages and promotes the development, maintenance and enhancement of appropriate standards of actuarial education and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) internationally.

The Insurance Regulation Committee promotes the role of actuaries with respect to regulation and supervision, to support the development of international actuarial principles and frameworks for regulation and supervision of insurers and to provide a forum for discussion of supervision/regulation issues and approaches.

The Insurance Accounting Committee promotes the actuarial viewpoint in the development and application of financial reporting of insurance companies as developed by international accounting standard setters, including but not limited to the estimation and review of reporting values for insurance contracts prepared in the context of International Financial Reporting Standards.

The Membership Assistance Committee oversees compliance with IAA membership requirements and support the development of the actuarial profession.

The Professionalism Committee encourages and promotes the development, maintenance and enhancement of professional actuarial practice.

How can I contribute to the work of the IAA?

The IAA is an association whose membership is composed of actuarial associations from different countries of the world.

To actively participate in the work of the various committees, forums or task forces as a member or observer, you must be appointed by a Full Member association. Please see the list of member associations:
