Strategic Planning Committee

The purpose of the Strategic Planning Committee is to support Council by creating a forum for discussions amongst Full Member Associations, devoted to the advancement of IAA strategic matters.

  • Advise and make recommendations to Council on matters of IAA strategy, policy and overall direction;
  • Recommend to Council a Strategic Plan and Strategic Initiatives and updates to them as conditions warrant;
  • Report to Council on the activities and meetings of the Strategic Planning Committee;
  • When it becomes appropriate, but at least every four years, consider the progress of committees, forums, subcommittees, work groups and task forces in realizing the Strategic Plan and provide appropriate feedback to the Executive Committee and to Council on any aspect that the Strategic Planning Committee considers appropriate;
  • When it becomes appropriate, but at least every four years, review the governance and structure of the IAA and make recommendations to Council in relation to any need for change;
  • Recommend to Council the strategic financial plan and the associated schedule of membership fees. In developing its recommendation to Council, the Strategic Planning Committee will receive all necessary information from the Executive Director and the Executive Committee;
  • Recommend to Council a Strategic Action Plan for ISAPs;
  • Place items related to its role on the Council Agenda;
  • Carry out such other duties and responsibilities as may be determined by Council from time to time;
  • The Strategic Planning Committee shall not have direct involvement in the operational and management activities of the IAA. However, if in the judgment of the Strategic Planning Committee it becomes clear that the operational and management activities are not consistent with the Strategic Plan and objectives approved by Council, the Strategic Planning Committee may present recommendations for appropriate changes to Council.
