To celebrate International Actuaries Day on September 2, 2026, the IAA is hosting a global webinar bringing together actuarial leaders from different regions to share perspectives on the challenges, opportunities, and innovations shaping the profession worldwide.
Under the theme “Learning Across Borders: Global Perspectives on the Actuarial Profession,” the discussion will explore how the actuarial profession is evolving across different markets, what insights can be shared internationally, and how collaboration through the IAA can continue to support the global actuarial community.
The webinar will feature speakers from Canada, France, Kenya, and Hong Kong, with Mike Lombardi, IAA President, serving as moderator.

Moderator: Mike Lombardi; IAA President
Mike Lombardi began his tenure as President of the International Actuarial Association (IAA) on January 1, 2026. As President, he serves as Chair of the IAA Executive Committee and Council. Mike has been actively involved with the IAA since 2004, serving on various committees and representing both the Society of Actuaries (SOA) and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA). He is also a former President of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and the Society of Actuaries. Mike is President of MLBC, providing consulting services to insurance companies on business strategy, mergers and acquisitions, reinsurance, and actuarial matters. He has extensive international experience in the insurance and actuarial fields, including senior leadership roles at Reinsurance Group of America (RGA) and Tillinghast (now Willis Towers Watson).
Speaker: Jason Vary; FCIA, FSA
Jason is the President of Actuarial Solutions Inc., a boutique pension consulting firm in Canada. Jason has practiced in defined benefit pension and retiree health plans for over twenty-five years, including providing clients with due diligence services with respect to mergers and acquisitions and expert evidence on matters before arbitrators and the courts. Jason is currently a member of the IAA’s Professionalism Committee and recently served on the Nominations Committee and the Membership & Assistance Committee. He is also the immediate past-chair of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries’ International Affairs Council, which provides strategic guidance on the Canadian profession’s international relationships and engagement.
Speaker: Samuel Cywie; General Delegate
Samuel is Délégué général (General Delegate) of the Institut des actuaires (France), where he has been member of the Institut’s team since 2019. He is a member of the Advance Committee and of the Membership Assistance Committee within the International Actuarial Association (IAA). In his current role, he oversees all development activities for the Institut des actuaires. He coordinates the Institut's technical committees and working groups, manages its clubs, and organizes its events. His responsibilities include managing relationships with universities actuarial programs, overseeing continuing professional development initiatives, communications, and international affairs. In addition to these responsibilities, Samuel serves as a coordinator for the Young Actuaries Initiative.
Speaker: Lorraine Njue; Actuary & Insurance Professional
Lorraine Njue is a qualified actuary with extensive experience in the insurance industry, combining regulatory and commercial perspectives. Her expertise includes insurance supervision, reinsurance management, capital modelling, and reserving. She is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (UK) and holds a master's degree in actuarial management from Cass Business School. Lorraine is also passionate about supporting the development of the actuarial profession and mentoring future actuaries.
Speaker: Alexander Wong; Chief Actuary, FWD Group
Alexander Wong is an experienced Chief Actuary with extensive experience in multinational insurance companies across Greater China and Asia. He has been actively involved in industry and regulatory development, with expertise in financial risk, enterprise risk management, actuarial modelling, and life insurance product development. Alexander brings strong leadership experience in driving change and collaborating with stakeholders across the actuarial and insurance communities.
