Meet Irfan Yar, our International Relations Officer, who plays a key role in supporting the IAA’s supranational engagement efforts through his work with the Supranational Relations Subcommittee.

Before joining the IAA, he worked with WFP across the Executive Board Secretariat, Emergency Operations, and Corporate Planning and Performance Division, supporting intergovernmental processes, UN coordination, and global humanitarian operations. He also brings experience from policy and research institutions focused on geopolitical issues.

What he finds most rewarding at the IAA is the real impact of its volunteers, leveraging their actuarial expertise to shape global policy through collaboration with Supranational Organizations.

“What truly impresses me is the dedication and commitment of IAA volunteers, and how genuinely they work to promote their profession and support their community, with a strong sense of purpose and responsibility,” says Irfan.

He loves working with the diverse community of IAA volunteers and values the opportunity to learn from their perspectives. He also appreciates the positive and collaborative workplace culture within the IAA Secretariat.

In addition to English, Irfan speaks Pashto, Persian, Urdu, and Hindi, with intermediate German and Arabic.
He enjoys cooking, meeting new people, following global politics—and is a big cat person!
