Marika Guralnik represented the International Actuarial Association (IAA) at the FSI-IAIS-IMF Policy Implementation Meeting on IFRS 17, held in Basel, Switzerland, on 8–9 October 2025.
She spoke at the panel “Practical and actuarial insights on IFRS 17 implementation”, which explored how insurers, auditors, and supervisors are addressing the technical and operational challenges of the new reporting framework. The discussion covered topics such as actuarial valuation under IFRS 17, the exercise of professional judgement, and the evolving skillsets needed to ensure consistency and reliability in financial reporting.
The session was moderated by Jeffery Yong (FSI) and featured experts from the IMF, KPMG, and the Insurance Regulatory Authority of Kenya, highlighting both global supervisory perspectives and practical industry experience.

IAA Consultations – Exposure Drafts Now Open for Comments

The IAA has released two exposure drafts for public consultation:
- Proposed Revisions to ISAP 1 – General Actuarial Practice
Prepared by the ISAP 1 Review Task Force of the Actuarial Standards Committee (ASC), this exposure draft proposes updates to the International Standard of Actuarial Practice 1 and its glossary.
- Deadline for comments: 18 January 2026
- Proposed IAN 200 – Application of IFRS S2 Climate-Related Disclosures
Developed jointly by the Climate and Sustainability Committee (CSC) and the Insurance Accounting Committee, this draft provides guidance for actuaries applying IFRS S2 climate-related disclosure standards.
