IAA Webinar on the Banking Crisis 2023

A panel of actuaries will discuss the banking crisis of 2023. They will identify the causes of this year’s banking crisis and will consider how these causes are similar to or different from the causes of the banking crisis of 2008. They will also discuss possible changes to banking regulations to address shortcomings which have become apparent this year.

The panel will then seek to identify specific ways in which actuaries can contribute to the avoidance of banking crises, focusing on areas where the ability of actuaries to make effective contributions is likely to seem credible to banks and banking regulators. Input from attendees will be welcome, either during the webinar or afterwards. After the webinar, a short paper will be written for inclusion in actuarial magazines.
