IAA's Risk Book Chapter on ERM Insights from Failures and Near Failures (Part 1)
This chapter of the Risk Book focuses on situations where inadequate ERM processes have led to company failures or near failures. Common control failures are identified, which can serve as learnings for other enterprises. Studying these examples can help organizations better evaluate their own weaknesses and take steps to avoid similar instances of distress.
This webinar discusses ERM insights gleaned from a sample of the case studies featured in the chapter through interviews with authors of the cases. It also includes discussion of the general lessons that can be learned, including a focus on the role actuaries can play in avoiding the types of situations covered in the chapter.
Moderator: Paul Braithwaite
Speakers: Nick Dexter, Yosuke Fujisawa and Kathy Wong
