Since 2004 I work as actuary in the Italian social security system where I built up my experience at the Italian worker’s compensation institute (INAIL) and extended it having had a 4 years practice at the Italian old age pension authority (INPS). My main duties are: actuarial modelling, actuarial valuations and forecasts, data processing, database management. Member of other committees and working groups at IAA and AAE. Speaker at many international events and author of papers for INAIL, INPS and AAE.

Doug is a senior global consulting actuary whose career has spanned 5 decades working large multi-national corporations on the design, funding and administration of their retirement and other employee benefit plans. In addition to his corporate work, he has consulted with several governments on the design and funding of their national social insurance systems. Now, largely retired, he volunteers extensively for the actuarial profession through involvement on several IAA committees and sections and is a Board member of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries.

Jennifer Alonso Garcia (Treasurer)

Currently (tenured) Professor of Actuarial Science at the Department of Mathematics of the Université Libre de Bruxelles. She is also an Associate Investigator at CEPAR, and Netspar Fellow. Previously she was a (tenure-track) Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics, Econometrics and Finance (EEF) at the University of Groningen and Senior Research Associate at CEPAR.

Twenty-two years specialising in pensions and investment consulting.  During this period I consulted to a number of large clients as valuator, employee benefits consultant, investment consultant and a portfolio manager of retirement fund’s investment arrangements.  This allowed me to gain expertise in the core areas of managing a retirement fund to provide sustainable benefits to members and pensioners.  In 2012 I started the research and product development areas within Alexforbes and today I am responsible for the houseviews, data analytics, product development and management across the group.

Main areas of focus are: M&A advisory for pensions and HR; HR Post-merger integration; Pension valuations, restructuring and outsourcing; Compensation design, Job Architecture and implementation of advanced compensation software systems. Past Chairperson of IEBA (and German branch) and currently vice chairperson. Written numerous articles on various Total Reward areas.

Barbara Sanders (Member)

After 8 years in pension consulting, Barbara became a tenured associate professor at Simon Fraser University in the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science. She has contributed significantly to public policy discussions on pensions, including chairing the Canadian Institute of Actuaries’ Task Force on Target Benefit Plans and serving as Vice-Chair of the Task Force on Variable Payout Life Annuities. She is also an Associate Fellow at the National Institute on Ageing at Toronto Metropolitan University.
