Terms and Conditions of Use (Website)

Thank you for visiting the website of the International Actuarial Association (“IAA”, “we”, “us” or “our”). By visiting, browsing and using the Websites, including but not limited to any applications, platforms, services, or other resources related to, distributed on or available through www.actuaries.org (the “Websites”), the User agrees to be bound by these terms and conditions of use (“Terms”).

BY USING THE WEBSITES, YOU ACCEPT AND AGREE TO BE BOUND AND COMPLY WITH THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, YOU MUST NOT ACCESS OR USE THE WEBSITES.

1. MODIFICATIONS TO THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS AND TO THE WEBSITES
We reserve the right in our sole discretion to revise and update these Terms from time to time. Any and all such modifications are effective immediately upon posting and apply to all access to and continued use of the Website. You agree to periodically review the Terms in order to be aware of any such modifications and your continued use shall be your acceptance of these.The information and material on our Websites may be changed, withdrawn, or terminated at any time in our sole discretion without notice. 2. USE OF THE WEBSITES
Our Websites, including any sub-sites (e.g. online communities), is provided as a service of the IAA. For Users accessing our Websites from the European Union, be aware that our Websites use cookies. 3. YOUR USE OF THE WEBSITES AND ACCOUNT SET-UP AND SECURITY
The security of your personal information is very important to us. We use physical, electronic, and administrative measures designed to secure your personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure.The safety and security of your information also depends on you. Users are responsible for obtaining their own access to the Websites. Users are required to ensure that all persons who access the Websites through a user's internet connection are aware of these Terms and comply with them. The Websites, including content or areas of the Websites, may require user registration. It is a condition of your use of the Websites that all the information you provide on the Websites is correct, current, and complete.Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the Internet is not completely secure. Although we do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information transmitted to our Websites. You are responsible for any password misuse or any unauthorized access.We reserve the right at any time and from time to time, to disable or terminate your account, any username, password, or other identifier, whether chosen by you or provided by us, in our sole discretion for any or no reason, including any violation of any provision of these Terms.You are prohibited from attempting to circumvent and from violating the security of our Websites, including, without limitation: (a) accessing content and data that is not intended for you; (b) attempting to breach or breaching the security and/or authentication measures which are not authorized; (c) restricting, disrupting, or disabling service to users, hosts, servers, or networks; (d) illicitly reproducing TCP/IP packet header; (e) disrupting network services and otherwise disrupting Websites owner's ability to monitor the Websites; (f) using any robot, spider, or other automatic device, process, or means to access the Websites for any purpose, including monitoring or copying any of the material on the Websites; (g) introducing any viruses, trojan horses, worms, logic bombs, or other material that is malicious or technologically harmful; (h) attacking the Websites via a denial-of-service attack, distributed denial-of-service attack, flooding, mailbombing, or crashing; and (i) otherwise attempting to interfere with the proper working of the Websites.

4. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS AND OWNERSHIP
You understand and agree that the Websites and their entire contents, features, and functionality, including, but not limited to, all information, software, code, data text, displays, graphics, photographs, images, video, audio, music, broadcast, design, presentation, website layout, selection, and arrangement, are owned by IAA and are protected in all forms by intellectual property laws including, without limitation, copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and any other proprietary rights.The IAA name, our logo, and all related names, logos, product and service names, designs, images, and slogans are trademarks of IAA. You must not use such marks without the prior written permission of IAA. Use of any such property, except as expressly authorized, shall constitute an infringement or violation of the rights of the property owner and may be a violation of federal or other laws and could subject the infringer to legal action.You may only use the Websites for your personal and non-commercial use. You shall not directly or indirectly reproduce, compile for an internal database, distribute, modify, create derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, republish, download, store, or transmit any of the material on our Websites.Users are not permitted to modify copies of any materials from our Websites nor delete or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary rights notices from copies of materials from this site. You must not access or use for any commercial purposes any part of the Websites or any services or materials available through the Websites.If you print off, copy, or download any part of our Websites in breach of these Terms, your right to use the Websites will cease immediately and you must, at our option, return or destroy any copies of the materials you have made. 5. ACCURACY OF INFORMATION
The IAA attempts to ensure that information on the Websites is complete, accurate and current. Despite such efforts, the information on the Websites may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete and/or out of date. The IAA makes no representation or warranty as to the completeness, accuracy or how up to date any information on the Websites is. The information, opinions, and recommendations presented within the Websites are for general informational purposes only.Such information should not be considered professional advice and is not intended to replace consultation with a qualified professional. 6. MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY
The membership data may not be downloaded, republished, resold, or duplicated, in whole or in part, for commercial or any other purposes without limitation, or for purposes of compiling mailing lists or any other lists of actuaries. Although individual actuaries are encouraged and permitted to view their database listing and to update it online, the IAA does not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of the information contained in this database. In no event shall the IAA be liable to you or anyone else for any decision made or action taken by you in reliance on such information.

7. SOCIAL MEDIAThe purpose of the IAA LinkedIn Groups, including subgroups, (“LinkedIn Group”), the IAA X (formerly Twitter) Account (“X Account”), the IAA Facebook Page (“Facebook Page”), the IAA Instagram Page (“Instagram Page”) and the IAA YouTube Channel (collectively, “IAA Social Media Accounts”) is to provide an engaging forum in which the IAA and/or its leadership not only share timely information, but also have a mechanism to informally solicit feedback and encourage discussion on IAA activities. All users of the IAA Social Media Accounts are encouraged to participate in the online discussions through comments and posts of their own.By accessing, browsing, or using the IAA Social Media Accounts, User agrees to be bound by these Terms.

8. CONDITIONS OF USE AND USER SUBMISSIONS AND SITE CONTENT STANDARDS
As a condition of your access and use of the Websites, you agree that you may use the Websites only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.The following site content standards apply to any and all content, material, and information a user submits, posts, publishes, displays, or transmits (collectively, “submit”) to the website or to other users or persons (collectively, “User Submissions”) and any and all Interactive Functions. By submitting your personal information and using our Websites, you consent to the collection, use, reproduction, hosting, transmission, and disclosure of any such user content submissions in compliance with our Privacy Policy, as we deem necessary for use of the Websites.By using our Websites you are consenting to the use of cookies which allow a server to recall previous requests or registration and/or IP addresses to analyze website use patterns. THE INFORMATION, MATERIALS AND SERVICES PROVIDED ON OR THROUGH THE WEBSITES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT ANY WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY. THE IAA DOES NOT WARRANT THE ACCURACY OR COMPLETENESS OF THE INFORMATION, MATERIALS OR SERVICES PROVIDED ON OR THROUGH THE WEBSITES. 13. GOVERNING LAW

The Websites and these Terms shall be governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario. By visiting and using the Websites, User consents to the jurisdiction of Ontario courts and User agrees to accept service of process by mail. User hereby waives any and all jurisdictional and venue defenses that might otherwise be available.
