These tours will provide cultural enrichment for a wide range of interests, as well as more relaxed opportunities to network with other delegates and their guests. Tours are included in the registration packages at no additional charge, while sporting events (such as golf, a Segway tour, or professional sports games) will be offered at a supplemental fee.

National Air and Space Museum—Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center

Enjoy an excursion to the The Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, the newest branch of the world's most popular museum, and an exciting addition to the downtown Air & Space Museum that is familiar to long-time Washington visitors. Adjacent to Washington-Dulles International Airport, the Udvar-Hazy Center was built as an extension of the National Air and Space Museum for the preservation of its collection of historic aviation and space artifacts. The 760,000 square foot hanger is home to over 80 historic airplanes including the Space Shuttle "Discovery."
Here you will walk among artifacts on the floor, view hanging aircraft from elevated walkways and observe airplane traffic from the Donald D. Engen Observation Tower (164 feet high). Some of the aircraft that marked important points in the evolution of air transportation and space travel are on display here. You will enjoy visiting the exhibits and learning about the exciting world of aviation and space!

Historic Mount Vernon

Travel along the banks of the Potomac River and enjoy an intimate glimpse of 18th century Virginia, waiting beyond the gates of Mount Vernon, the home of George Washington. Time has been allowed to tour the mansion and the surrounding service buildings, where you will view examples of Mr. Washington's brilliance as an architect, a surveyor and a gentleman farmer.
The newest portion of the Mount Vernon tour experience includes the Donald W. Reynolds Museum and Education Center. By exploring 25 galleries and theaters, you will learn about Washington's exceptional life and accomplishments through interactive displays. Three life-size models created by a forensic anthropologist and a team of interdisciplinary experts will depict Washington as never before seen at three significant stages of his life.
Please Note: Guests may experience wait time to enter and tour the mansion during peak season. Only the first floor is ADA accessible.

Old Town Trolley Tours provides extraordinary sightseeing adventures to visitors allowing you to see the best of Washington DC first. Friendly conductors will take you through our country's rich past to present day through humorous stories and fascinating trivia, making the tour interesting and fun. Old Town Trolleys run approximately every 30 minutes on several interconnected routes that cover many of Washington, DC's popular sites and neighborhoods - including a stop near the Marriott Wardman Park. Vouchers will be provided for you to hop on and hop off the trolley at your leisure during the day of your tour and the following calendar day. Pick up your vouchers and other important information at the ICA 2014 tour desk the morning of your tour.
Moderate Activity Level: The activity level for this tour is at your discretion, depending on the number and type of sites that you "hop-off" to explore. Comfortable clothing and shoes are recommended.

Capitol Visitors Center, U.S. Capitol Building and the Library of Congress

Enjoy a tour of one of the nation's most well-known landmarks as you embark on a tour of the Capitol Visitors Center and The United States Capitol Building. You will be dropped off at Peace Circle and will walk to the entrance of the Visitors Center. From the moment you enter Emancipation Hall at the Capitol Visitors Center, you will be drenched with light from two mammoth skylights, each with a perfect view of the Capitol Rotunda. You can explore "Out of Many, One," an exhibit that tells the story of the development of representative democracy in the United States and the construction of the U.S. Capitol building.
Following the Capitol Visitor Center, you will go from reading about the Capitol's history to experiencing it firsthand. One of the most symbolically important and architecturally remarkable buildings in the nation, The United States Capitol Building is equally as impressive architecturally as it is from an historical standpoint. It has housed the meeting chambers of the House of Representatives and the Senate for two centuries. The Capitol, which was started in 1793, has been through many construction phases. It stands today as a monument to the American people and their government. In addition to its use by Congress, the Capitol is a museum of American art and history. It stands as a focal point of the government's legislative branch and as a centerpiece of Capitol Hill and the National Mall.
Next, the group will stop at the Library of Congress, the world's largest library with 119 million books, films, documents and photographs in its three buildings. The Thomas Jefferson Building houses one of the world's three perfect vellum copies of the Gutenberg Bible. On permanent display is "American Treasurers of the Library of Congress," a rotating exhibition of rare and unique items.

Washington, DC Highlights Tour

As an introduction to the city of Washington, DC during Cherry Blossom Season, you will travel down the famous parade route of Pennsylvania Avenue, passing notable buildings such as the National Archives and the FBI to arrive at the U.S. Capitol, considered to be the most recognized public structure in the world. You will view the exterior of the building.
The tour continues along the National Mall, past the Smithsonian Institution Museums and the Washington Monument to arrive at the World War II Memorial, which recognizes the sacrifices made by "America's Greatest Generation." From here the reflecting pool points your attention towards the majestic Lincoln Memorial, where you will stop to admire the statue of the great emancipator - Abraham Lincoln. This memorial also provides a spectacular view of both the Washington Monument and the U.S. Capitol. Flanking the memorial are two war memorials; to one side, The Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the most visited memorial with its black granite walls inscribed with the names of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. To the other side, The Korean War Veterans Memorial is a moving tribute to the international defense of the Republic of South Korea. The next stop is the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial, which is the newest addition to the National Mall, honoring the civil rights pioneer inspired us to change. It is also home to 192 cherry blossom trees!
Next, the tour will proceed past the Jefferson Memorial, a temple-like structure dedicated to the author of Declaration of Independence, our third President. Also along the Tidal Basin, which features cherry blossom trees around its perimeter, you will visit the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, the fourth monument dedicated to an American president. Crossing the Potomac River; you will catch a glimpse of The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Watergate, the National Cathedral and Georgetown before arriving at The U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial/Iwo Jima. The statue depicts a photograph of one of the iconic moments of World War II and honors all Marines since 1775. Time permitting, the tour's last stop can be the White House, the presidential residence and headquarters of the Executive. You will enjoy an exterior view of the White House.

Golf Outing

Enjoy an afternoon round of golf with your colleagues in a modified scramble format at the University of Maryland links. The 18-hole championship course brings challenges and enjoyment throughout the entire round.
Event includes:

Golfers will be responsible for providing their own shoes and clubs, or making rental arrangements. Organizers will be in touch with registered golfers to organize foursomes, and to provide contact information for club rentals.

Segway Tour of Washington, DC

This Segway tour is one of the most sensational ways to visit the city! Instead of viewing all that the capital city has to offer on foot, you will ride on this "Human Transporter."
Each tour begins with a 30-minute orientation session. You will practice on the Segways until everyone feels comfortable and is ready to conquer DC. The first stop will be at the White House and Old Executive Office Building to see the seat of the Executive Branch.
Then it's down to the west end of the National Mall and the Lincoln, Vietnam and Korean Memorials. You then will travel back along Constitution Avenue and stop to visit the World War II Memorial in the shadow of the Washington Monument. A quick glimpse of the south lawn of the White House and you're down Constitution Avenue a little further to the National Archives - home of the Constitution, Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence and more American treasures.
The guide will talk about the National Mall, Smithsonian Castle and Air & Space Museum before continuing on to the east end of the Mall to see the seat of the Legislative Branch - the United States Capitol. Finally you will return along Pennsylvania Avenue, passing buildings such as the J. Edgar Hoover (FBI) building and Ford's Theatre.
You will also see the National Gallery of Art, American History Museum and US Botanical Gardens all while "gliding" through the streets on the Segway.
Limited to 50 participants, who will be organized into smaller groups for the tour.
